6th November 2024

Social Enterprise Scotland, in collaboration with Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network (ESEN), Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSI), and Clackmannanshire Council, will host three Community Learning Exchanges on the 6th of November.

Each exchange will accommodate up to 15 participants, offering a focused learning experience. These will be fully funded places with budget available to cover travel and accommodation.

Visit 1 – Clackmannanshire: A Community Wealth Building Approach to a Wellbeing Economy (12:30pm – 4:00pm)

Social Enterprise Scotland, in partnership with Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSI) and Clackmannanshire Council, will host a Community Learning Exchange on 6th November. It will accommodate up to 15 participants, ensuring a focused and engaging learning experience. This Community Learning Experience (CLE) will delve into the practical application of community wealth building in Clackmannanshire, one of Scotland’s pioneering regions and one of the five pilot areas selected by the Scottish Government.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the principles of community wealth building and how they are practically applied in Clackmannanshire to create a more inclusive, equitable economy.
  2. Explore the role of community assets and ownership in addressing local socio-economic challenges through visits to social enterprises and community-driven initiatives.
  3. Gain insight into gender justice in business and the strategies implemented to empower women in the local business sector, promoting equality and diversity.

Visit 2 – Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network – Social Enterprises in Granton, 6th November (12:30pm – 4:00pm)

Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network (ESEN) supports, promotes and develops social enterprise in Edinburgh and serves as a hub creating social and economic growth. Join this visit to find out about ESEN members The Pitt and Move On Works.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn about the role of social enterprises in community regeneration by exploring how The Pitt and other initiatives in Granton contribute to local social and economic growth.
  2. Understand sustainable business practices through insights into EALA Impacts’ holistic approach to building design and construction, focusing on social, environmental, and financial sustainability.
  3. Explore innovative waste management and upcycling solutions through Move On Works’ waste wood collection and transformation services, promoting environmental sustainability and skills development.

Visit 3 – Out of the Blue Drill Hall – Celebrating 30 Years! 6th November (12:30pm – 4:00pm)

Join us as we visit the Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Edinburgh, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Since 2004, this historic venue has served as the beating heart of Out of the Blue, deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of Leith with its rich historical significance.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understanding Cultural Preservation and Regeneration: Learn how historical buildings like the Drill Hall can be sustainably restored and repurposed into thriving contemporary arts and community hubs, maintaining their cultural significance.
  2. Exploring Creative Social Enterprises: Gain insight into how Out of the Blueprint successfully integrates print production, workshops, and creative training to support both local artists and commercial ventures.
  3. Appreciating Community-Driven Arts Initiatives: Discover the role of Out of the Blue Drill Hall as a participatory and inclusive space that fosters artistic expression, collaboration, and engagement within the Leith community.
