Portgordon Community Harbour Group Limited (SC282180) was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in March 2005 as a direct response to developing community owned assets as part of a wider harbour vision. It gained charitable status in September 2009 (SC040805). The organisation became Portgordon Community Trust Limited in Q3 2021, with a new name and revised constitution. The Trust currently has 9 directors and over 80 members.

Key aims;

1. Promoting and interpreting the history and heritage of Portgordon and its former surrounding communities.

2. Providing and assist in the provision of leisure and recreational facilities with the objective of improving conditions and lifestyle for the Community of Portgordon.

3. Providing training and skills of all kinds particularly skills that will assist the residents of Portgordon and its environs in obtaining employment.

Over time, the original Portgordon Harbour Group expanded its remit to support wider village aims. This was in response to the needs identified in the 2017 Moray Council led Planning for Real process and clarified and prioritised via the 2019 support delivered by Crown Estate Scotland and tsiMORAY including their Four Pillars of Sustainability process, delivered in early 2020.

As noted above, the Portgordon Harbour Group revised its Constitution and became the Portgordon Community Trust (PCT) in Q3 2021.

PCT is the lead organisation acting on behalf of the local community, not only for the future of the old Richmond Arms but also for regeneration initiatives at the harbour and right across the village. It incorporates

Portgordon Community Hub Business Plan, the work of the previous Harbour Group as part of its operational activities and has brought other community groups into its activities. Though the focus is on the Richmond Arms development, this is the leading anchor organisation for the area and will become involved in wider regeneration initiatives over the years – fundamentally its objective is community regeneration.
