THE APPLiCATION DEADLINE FOR THE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE AWARDS 2011 HAS NOW PASSED. Best of luck to all who applied!

The Coalition has launched its second annual Social Enterprise Awards, a competition to find Scotland’s best social enterprises. Social enterprises are invited to submit entries in the following categories:

  • Social Enterprise Start Up of the Year

    The prize will consist of up to three days of support from Firstport’s business support team. The team will work with you to look at any questions facing the business, helping you build on the success of the award and move ahead with your enterprise.

  • Social Enterprise Leader of the Year

    This prize will consist of a place on the Academy’s Leadership Certificate Programme.  Accredited by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) this programme consists of 12 days over one year with a group of peers from the Social Enterprise Sector.  The programme is designed as a reflective learning journey integrating leadership theory with your own practice.  This transformational leadership programme will boost your abilities as an effective leader, helping you to enhance the performance of your team.  The value of this prize is over £2,500 at market value.

  • Young Person’s Social Enterprise of the Year

    Johnston Carmichael, Scotland’s largest firm of independent chartered accountants and business advisers, are delighted to be working with the Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition and will provide the prize of a strategy session with our expert team.  In the workshop we will help leaders of social enterprise evaluate their long-term objectives and look at the steps they need to take to move the organisation forward. Some of the benefits of this will be: Direction is established for you and your organisation, Further motivation is derived and Provision of an excellent framework which will help your business to adapt to change.

    £200 Co-op Gift Vouchers

 

  • Social Enterprise of the Year

    This prize will consist of a day of consulting support from PwC Scotland; one of the country’s leading professional services firms, and is worth well over £1,000 at market rates. A PwC consultant will have an initial discussion with the winner in order to define the support which would be most appropriate, and will then find a suitable specialist to carry out the work. This is likely to involve working with the leader or executive team of the winning enterprise on a particular strategic issue. PwC will bring insight and experience to support the winning organisation in meeting the challenge or seizing the opportunity, and will provide practical suggestions for next steps.

Winners will be announced by John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth on 24th February 2011 at a reception hosted by PricewaterhouseCoopers at their Glasgow premises – 141 Bothwell Street, Glasgow. 

The best social enterprises from the Scottish awards will go on to compete against Northern Ireland, England and Wales at the UK national awards at the Voice ’11 conference at O2 Arena in London in March 30th.

This award is open to applications from any public or private sector organisation that have partnered with a social enterprise
