Social Entrepreneurs Benefiting From Firstport

A new IT application to help raise the profiles of charities, a green map to promote environmental businesses in Edinburgh, an initiative to provide second hand work wear to young people on low incomes, a carpet recycling scheme, and a school bicycle repair enterprise are amongst 14 awards made to individuals worth over £50,000.
Firstport, the support organisation working to identify and seed social enterprises in Scotland, distributes money on behalf of the Scottish Government’s £1 million Social Entrepreneurs Fund and Scotland Unltd’s Millennium Awards Trust. In the latest round of awards a total of £56,367 has been awarded through both funds to 14 individuals.
