Running a Community Interest Company comes with its own set of challenges – and opportunities. This informal, collaborative session is designed to bring our CIC members together to share honest experiences, practical insights, and useful connections.

We’ll kick things off with a couple of guest speakers from Social Enterprises who’ve been through the highs, lows, and everything in between of running a CIC. They’ll share candid reflections on what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what they wish they’d known earlier.

From there, the floor is yours. This is a space to exchange ideas, swap resources, and explore solutions to some of the barriers CICs face – whether that’s the level of awareness and understanding of the legal structure, funding, governance or anything else.

This session also aligns with SES’s role as an intermediary for the social enterprise sector – raising awareness of the CIC model, building understanding of the challenges organisations face, and feeding these insights into government and other key bodies to influence positive change.

While open to all members, this session will be especially valuable for those running (or considering) a CIC, offering:

  • Practical insights grounded in real experience
  • Peer support from others navigating similar challenges
  • Useful tools and contacts you can take away and apply
  • A chance to be part of a solutions-focused conversation, not just a discussion of problems

Come along for an honest, energising session allowing supportive conversations and knowledge exchange – alongside network building.

Like to join the session and not sure if you’re a member, email our friendly membership team at membership@socialenterprise.scot to check.
