Social Enterprise Scotland – Annual Social Enterprise Awards 2012

We continue to be inspired and amazed by the imagination, creativity and strength of social enterprise in Scotland and for that reason we are delighted to announce the return of the annual awards for 2012. The enormous amount of work you are doing deserves to be recognised and the annual awards are an opportunity to showcase the best of social enterprise and for us all to join together to applaud the work that is going on across Scotland.

We want you to save Tuesday 13 of November 2012 in your diaries – when we will host the awards ceremony in conjunction with the Parliamentary reception in Holyrood. An auspicious setting deserves an auspicious event and we can think of no better way than to recognise the drive, enthusiasm and excellence of social enterprise in our cities, towns and communities.

Having set aside the awards earlier in the year in favour of the Social Enterprise Exchange we have been working with Social Enterprise UK and the Welsh and Northern Irish social enterprise bodies to reinstate the awards programme this autumn.

We are really pleased to have the support of Scottish Enterprise to facilitate the awards and, with their support, we have already begun to pull together a formidable and incredibly supportive judging panel that will be headed up by Linda Hanna, Company Growth Director at Scottish Enterprise. The panel also includes Fiona MacDonald of GREAN, the Scottish Social Enterprise of the Year in 2011, together with Journalist and Commentator Alf Young and Lucia Webster of PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Added to which we have sponsorship commitments from Kibble Works, North Glasgow Housing Association, The Social Enterprise Academy, Firstport and CEiS Events.

You are able to apply in your own right or you are able to nominate another social enterprise who you think is doing something amazing…and yes, that can mean simply doing what they do on a daily basis! So please get involved and join us in recognising the mammoth contribution you make.

Fraser Kelly, Chief Executive, Social Enterprise Scotland
