Social Enterprise Scotland attends community learning exchange at Eat Sleep Ride

On the 29th of September 2025, participants came together for a day of connection, reflection and learning at Eat Sleep Ride, a rural social enterprise in the Scottish Borders. Funded through the Scottish Community Alliance, this Community Learning Exchange looked at the topic of ‘Shared Leadership and Environmental Stewardship’.

The morning began with a warm welcome, tea and coffee, and a grounding exercise with the horses to settle into the space and feel more present. Through an equine-assisted coaching session, the group explored herd dynamics and reflected on how these patterns of trust, communication and leadership can be applied within organisations and communities.

Over lunch, participants had the chance to connect informally before moving on to the afternoon’s focus on environmental stewardship. Activities in the sensory garden, woodland walk, and practical demonstrations such as planting and biofuel highlighted how caring for the environment also nurtures community resilience. A group coaching process helped participants reflect on ways to bring stewardship into their own contexts.

The day closed with time for reflections, group sharing and a final circle where participants offered gratitude, insights and next steps. The exchange fostered new connections, practical learning and a deeper sense of how shared leadership and environmental care can strengthen communities.

Big THANK YOU to the team at Eat Sleep Ride and the Scottish Community Alliance.
