Each year at the Social Enterprise Summit Scotland, we have a wonderful opportunity to platform some incredible social enterprises that are hard at work across Scotland. This year is no different.

We’re thrilled to welcome you to the showcase, spotlighting the amazing talent and innovation across Scotland’s social enterprise community.

Sable (Laura) Stevenson, Founder (they/them)

Sable (Laura) is a queer, neurodivergent and disabled Dundee-based founder and social entrepreneur. As the founder of Cake or Dice CIC, they use play to create welcoming spaces where people feel included, accepted and able to be themselves. Their work shows how games, creativity and connection can help build confidence, community and belonging.

Cake or Dice CIC

Cake or Dice is a community-focused board game café based in Dundee, Scotland, operating as a Community Interest Company (CIC). We combine great food, speciality coffee, and a welcoming social environment to create a space where people can connect, relax, and feel part of something.

Our mission is to reduce social isolation and build confidence through shared experiences. We provide an inclusive, low-pressure environment where individuals can meet new people, learn new skills, and engage with tabletop gaming regardless of prior experience.”

The Team

Danielle Hardie and Ben Hamilton are talented Artists and Jewellery Makers and former pupils of Kilpatrick School for Additional Support Needs in Clydebank where Project Co-ordinator and Crafting Together co-founder Elaine McIlree taught for over 30 years. Claire Dean is a former broadcast journalist, lecturer, and director of social enterprise media co-op and is now CT Sales & Marketing Coordinator.

Crafting Together

At Crafting Together, we are proud to showcase the skills and talents of Artists and Makers with Learning Disabilities. Our team work in supportive workshops to develop a range of quality art, sewing and jewellery products, all designed or made at our studio on the banks of the River Clyde.

We believe that everyone who wants to should have the expectation and opportunity to engage in meaningful work. We are developing a social enterprise model to address the ‘what next?’ question that people with Learning Disabilities face at the point of leaving school or college. Together, we are creating a solution to the lack of meaningful opportunities for people with Learning Disabilities.”
