Spotlight on &Parents

Posted: 28 April 2025, in Member Spotlight

In our newest spotlight, we’re happy to be joined by Euan MacLean, Founder and CEO of &Parents.

What does your social enterprise do?

&Parents partners with schools to strengthen parental involvement, engagement in children’s learning, and participation in decision-making. We work across Scotland, the UK, internationally, and with online schools, helping them build more meaningful, effective relationships with their parent communities.

How do you do it?

We deliver consultancy, training, audits, and practical resources. We work closely with school leaders, teachers, and parents to design bespoke strategies that fit each school’s context. Our services are available in person and online, offering flexible support wherever schools are based.

Why should someone buy/use your product/services? What are the benefits and what makes your organisation unique?

We are the only consultancy focused exclusively on parental engagement across all school types, including online. Our work strengthens school communities, improves student outcomes, and supports better leadership decisions. We offer practical, research-informed solutions that can be immediately applied.

What is your personal motivation?

I believe every child benefits when parents and schools work well together. Too often, schools miss opportunities to genuinely engage families. My motivation is to help schools move beyond surface-level involvement towards real partnerships that impact learning and wellbeing.

What is the current focus for your social enterprise?

We are expanding our partnerships with schools across Scotland, the UK, and internationally. Alongside consultancy and training, we are developing a research base focused on effective parental involvement, engagement, and participation, helping schools apply evidence-based practices to strengthen relationships with families.

What exciting things do you have coming up?

We are running a competition to celebrate the launch of &Parents. We are continuing to develop our services for schools and lead research into parental involvement, engagement, and participation, helping schools apply the latest thinking to their work with families.

Who do you want to work with more?

We want to work with progressive school leaders, trust and group leaders, and education organisations who recognise that authentic parental engagement improves outcomes, community trust, and school performance. We welcome partnerships across Scotland, the UK, international, and online sectors.

What’s your biggest challenge?

The biggest hurdle is schools feeling confident enough to be open that their relationships with parents could be better. Many hesitate to ask for support. We offer non-judgemental, practical help and guarantee confidentiality, creating a safe space for schools to improve without fear of judgment.

Where do you see your organisation in 5 years?

We will be the trusted partner for schools seeking expert parental engagement consultancy across Scotland, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. We will be recognised for our practical impact and clear, actionable support for schools of all types.

What top tips would you give to other social enterprises?

Keep your focus simple and specific. Build services that genuinely solve a real problem. Speak directly to your audience’s needs, not your own. Deliver consistently and listen deeply to the people you aim to serve.
