IDBM Alliance Scotland seeks new Chair

Posted: 25 August 2025, in News

The IDBM Alliance Scotland is seeking its first Chair, following agreement across national membership bodies to form a new cross-sector alliance dedicated to championing Inclusive and Democratic Business Models (IDBMs).

The Alliance brings together a wide range of organisations representing community and social enterprises, co-operatives, employee-owned businesses, development trusts, and mutuals; all committed to a plural, values-led economy where ownership and decision-making power are shared.

This emerging alliance is grounded in collaboration, practical action and shared influence. It has been formed in response to the Scottish Government’s ambition to triple the number of IDBMs by 2034, and to ensure that policy is shaped by those already delivering on the ground.

We’re now looking for a Chair to help guide the strategic direction of this new collaboration, support collective voice and leadership, and ensure the integrity and diversity of IDBM models is reflected at every level of economic strategy.

This is a non-remunerated role, but expenses will be covered. Applications close on Wednesday 10 September. A short role profile and expression of interest form can be found here.
