Our vision is for Edinburgh to be a creative and participatory city, where everyone is within twenty minutes of the spaces and resources they need to pursue their own creativity, regardless of their background.

Our mission is to provide affordable and accessible spaces, resources, projects, and opportunities for Edinburgh residents to foster their creativity. In doing so, we support the creation of cultural, social and economic value within our local communities.

We are based at the A-Listed Out of the Blue Drill Hall - a large former military drill hall of architectural and historical significance. As well as home to over 150 artists, organisations and social enterprises based in studios, the Drill Hall houses a vibrant cafe (which also organises outside catering) and an exciting programme of events, workshops and exhibitions throughout the year. From art exhibitions and aerial classes to jewellery workshops and a monthly flea market, there’s something for everyone. The Drill Hall is also home to Out of the Blueprint - a social enterprise and offers an affordable and eco-friendly print service, with a particular focus on supporting under 25s.

We began with a vision to support the city’s artistic community by offering affordable spaces. Today we provide studio space for over 200 artists across five sites in Edinburgh.
